How Landscaping Businesses Are Valued

A market-based framework owners can apply to strengthen their companies.

Many landscape business owners wonder what their company is worth, but valuation is about much more than preparing to sell. Understanding how businesses are valued gives owners a clearer view of risk, profitability, structure, and opportunity — and helps them make better decisions today.

In this interactive workshop, Alison walks owners and senior managers through a practical, market-based approach to understanding business value. Using a case study format, participants explore how value is calculated, what buyers look for in an ideal company, and which improvements can strengthen profitability and increase future options.

The session combines teaching, hands-on exercises, small group breakouts, and real-world discussion. Attendees will learn how to calculate key valuation measures such as EBITDA and SDE, review the factors that influence value, and identify practical steps they can take to improve their business over time.

This workshop is ideal for landscape company owners who want to build a stronger, more profitable business — whether they are thinking about selling soon, planning for a future transition, or simply want to better understand what creates lasting value.

Attendees will walk away with:

A clearer understanding of how landscaping businesses are valued.

A practical framework for identifying value drivers and business risks.

Insight into what buyers look for in a strong company.

Tools to prioritize improvements that can increase profitability and long-term value.

A better roadmap for future growth, transition, or exit planning.
