Harvester Ed says, “We’re not in the landscaping business; rather, we’re in the people business who happen to do landscaping.” How true that is. The sooner we realize it, the better we will be at managing all phases of our landscape businesses.

Part of being in the “people business” is dealing with “sticky issues.” In this week’s video, Harvester Bill poses one of these issues to Harvester Steve. Watch the video and before Harvester Steve answers Harvester Bill’s question, stop the video and ask yourself what you would do? Then un-pause the video and continue to watch. We think you’ll agree this situation is extremely sensitive and needs to be handled quickly, but with care.

We’re not sure if you’ve ever spoken with Harvester Steve, but everyone who has, has the utmost respect for him as a person and his knowledge – including all of the Harvesters. He earned a Ph.D and was a professor at Old Dominion University for many years. He has also managed HR departments for huge corporations including the City of San Diego. He was also the former director of HR for one of the top 50 U.S. landscape companies. Bottom line – he’s wicked smart at what he does.

Enjoy this week’s message, and if you need help in your HR department feel free to give him a call. He can be reached at: 760-685-3800.

Remember the Harvesters mission is to impart the knowledge you  need to – Harvest your Potential. Thanks for watching.
